AT A GLANCE

The Büchler Bridge in Luxembourg should become more accessible for emergency vehicles. Especially in case of a blockage
of the roadway, the fire brigade, emergency doctors and police must still be able to pass over the bridge or advance onto it.
Therefore, a solution was sought to make the tram tracks on the bridge passable. The decision was made in favour of innoSTRAIL.

In order to ensure a barrier-free crossing for emergency vehicles, no gaps were to be left between the fields of the tram tracks.
Therefore, individual innoSTRAIL track transition panels with transition plates were installed.

A special feature of the Luxembourg project are two additional ruts integrated into the surface of the level crossing slabs. Should an emergency occur and the tram derails, the grooves catch the train wheels and guide the train. Further damage is thus avoided. STRAIL installed corresponding steel U-profiles connected with webs for the ruts in each panel.

To accommodate the signal conductors and keep them in position, special recesses were milled into the inner panels. The signal conductors are accessible at all times. Removal of the remaining panels is not necessary.

In addition, a shifting safety device specially designed for the Büchler bridge ensures that the position of the level crossing panels is fixed. The displacement lock is hidden under the level under the level crossing system and is not visible from the outside.
