Gapless from Platform to Train
Low-floor trams provide passengers with a more comfortable boarding. The remaining gap between the vehicle and the platform, however, remains as a potential cause of accidents.
In France, this gap is limited by law to 20 mm.
To avoid damages caused by component tolerances and vehicle movement, STRAIL France initiated the development of a modular platform edge system composed of rubber profiles.
Due to its front shape, STRAILedge offers vehicles little frictional resistance. Passengers enjoy high slip-resistance due to a pyramid structure on the upper surface.
In stops jointly serviced by trams and buses, STRAILedge gives bus drivers opportunity to steer closer without fear of damages to the vehicle, which in turn enhances passenger comfort and safety.
Additionally, STRAILedge modules are easily replaceable than concrete or stone platform edges in case of damage.
