Infill panels – bringing back silence!
STRAILastic_IP (IP stands for infill panels) sound protection walls are predestined to dampen sound near the tracks. They are mounted easily and quickly to standard railings of e.g. bridges or supporting walls by means of the pre-assembled mounting rails made of stainless steel. That means that the existing infrastructure is used and therefore there is no need for a plan-approval procedure.
Here is how it works: The sound propagates from the sound event and hits the infill panels which absorb part of it. The part that is reflected is effectively directed into the ballast (where it is absorbed) due to inner inclination of the acoustics surface.
STRAILastic_IP is designed in a way that clearly-visible advertisements can be put up safely on the far side of the tracks.
Individual themes which blend well into the surroundings have been the most popular option here so far.
STRAILastic_IP was developed by KRAIBURG STRAIL in cooperation with Deutsche Bahn AG as a pilot project and is a highly-efficient, supplemental sound protection for railways in an exposed position.
